Open Invitation to Submit Original Research for Poster Presentation at the DisasterPlasty® Conference 2026

This is an open call for submission of abstracts for poster presentation at the upcoming DisasterPlasty® Conference 2026 (September 30 to October 3, 2026, Hilton Beachfront Resort, Hilton Head Island, SC).

Abstract submissions are open to ALL ATTENDEES. Please submit your best work.

Topics should relate to the management of complex primary or revision arthroplasty of the hip, knee, or shoulder. Studies that address surgical techniques, diagnosis and management of complications and related topics are eligible for submission.

We encourage all residents, incoming Fellows, and those beginning their first-year post-fellowship to use this opportunity to fulfill any Fellowship project needs!

Submission Steps

Abstracts must be 500 words or less. Individuals may be listed on more than one abstract. The deadline for abstract submissions is Monday, June 1, 2026, at 11:59pm Eastern

  1. Ensure that the names and e-mail addresses of your co-authors are entered. Upon acceptance, all co-authors are required to submit disclosures. If any author disclosures are missing, the abstract will be withdrawn from the final program.

  2. Abstracts may be submitted if you previously presented a paper at a national/international meeting; however, the work must be unpublished as of the start of the 2026 DisasterPlasty Conference.

  3. Authors will be notified regarding acceptance on or before August 1, 2026

Upon receipt the abstracts will be distributed to the three independent reviewers, and authors notified regarding acceptance and poster format on or before August 1, 2026.
Print versions of the posters will be displayed for the entirety of the meeting.

Poster Setup: Wednesday, September 30, 2026 (before 1:00pm)
Poster Take-down: Saturday, October 3, 2026 (by 3:00pm)

PDF versions of the posters will be published in the Journal of Orthopedic Experience and Innovation (JOEI) as part of the meeting proceedings in the “At the Conference” publication section.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Authors, co-authors, and other contributors to the educational content must submit their disclosures of financial relationships with commercial interests by Sept. 1, 2026 (include the 24-month period prior to the meeting). Submissions where authors fail to disclose will be withdrawn from the program.

FDA Status

If a device or drug requiring FDA approval is included in the educational content, the content must include the FDA clearance status of the medical devices and pharmaceuticals for the uses discussed or described. “Off label” uses of a device or pharmaceutical may be described so long as the lack of FDA clearance for such uses is also disclosed. Posters exhibiting a Class III device or pharmaceutical require signage indicating the FDA status of the product.

HIPAA Compliance

Authors should ensure that educational content complies with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) to protect patient rights and confidentiality.
